What we collect and why
We collect personal and credit information so we can:
- Source consumer credit for personal, household, domestic, or residential investment purposes;
- Source commercial credit for business purposes;
- Provide other services described in our consent forms;
- Support a guarantor application.
As your broker, we need this information to assess your application (or one made by a company you direct, or a guarantor application), source a suitable credit provider and any required insurances, and manage the process. Without it, we may be unable to help — or limited in what we can offer.
Credit Reporting Bodies (CRBs)
When you apply for credit through us, we may:
- Disclose your identification information to a CRB if you wish us to obtain a credit report on your behalf;
- Use any CRB report to help us preliminarily assess your consumer credit or guarantor application;
- Disclose your personal information to insurers to source any insurances you wish to obtain;
- Disclose your credit information to a credit provider to apply for finance on your behalf.
We use information only for the purposes listed in our consent documents and don't disclose it to anyone else except with your permission, or as permitted or required by law.
Credit providers
When we submit your application to a credit provider, we may act as an intermediary for that provider — the same privacy law obligations apply to both of us. The full panel of credit providers we deal with is listed in our Credit Guide.
Each credit provider's website explains how it handles your information — usually under "Notifiable Matters", "Privacy Policy", "Credit Reporting Policy", or "Privacy Disclosure Statement and Consent". That information covers:
- That a CRB may include information the credit provider has disclosed about you when assessing your credit worthiness;
- That if you become overdue on consumer credit payments or commit a serious credit infringement, the credit provider may disclose that to a CRB;
- How to obtain the credit provider's or CRB's policies on managing credit information;
- Your right to access and correct information held about you, and to complain about conduct that may breach the privacy or credit reporting laws;
- Your right to ask a CRB not to use your information for direct-marketing pre-screening;
- Your right to ask a CRB not to release information about you if you believe you are a victim of fraud.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Provide all the information we hold about you;
- Correct anything we hold that is incorrect;
- Provide copies of this Privacy Policy or our consent documents in a form that suits you (hardcopy or email);
- Ask a CRB not to use your information for direct-marketing assessment, including pre-screening;
- Ask a CRB to provide a copy of what it holds about you.
To access information we hold about you, contact our Privacy Officer at PO Box 335, Seaforth NSW 2092, by phone on 0401 285 287, or by email at hello@quidmoney.com.au. An administration fee may apply to cover the cost of providing the information.
What you agree to when you apply
When you submit an application or supply information for one, you authorise us to:
- Use your personal and credit information to assess your application (or one made by a company you direct), and to source finance and insurance;
- Obtain and disclose information from and to prospective credit providers, insurers, and third parties, where reasonably necessary;
- Provide your information, including credit reports, to credit providers listed in our Credit Guide so they can assess your application;
- Share credit information with a guarantor or prospective guarantor;
- Offer you or your company related goods or services we (or associated entities) may be able to provide, unless you tell us not to;
- Disclose your information to service providers (contractors, agents, mail houses, lawyers, document custodians, IT providers, etc.) so they can perform services for us;
- Disclose your information to any organisation that may acquire — or has acquired — an interest in our business or your contract with us.
You also consent, as applicable, to:
- A CRB disclosing consumer credit information to credit providers to assess your application or guarantor application;
- A credit provider using that information to assess your suitability as a guarantor;
- A credit provider disclosing your credit information (including CRB-sourced information) to a guarantor or prospective guarantor;
- A credit provider disclosing information about you to another credit provider for a particular purpose.
Where the applicant or guarantor is a company you direct, you consent to the use of your information alongside the company's information in each of the ways above.
You also authorise us to request consumer and commercial credit reporting information about you from a CRB to help us provide our services. This authorisation ends when we begin a task on behalf of a credit provider.
